Abstract

This project focuses on the digital preservation of the Kapampangan legend of Maria Sinukuan and its connection to Mount Arayat through animation. As traditional folklore continues to be passed down through changing forms of storytelling, there is a need for approaches that can preserve cultural narratives while making them accessible and engaging to
younger audiences. The project will adapt the legend of Maria Sinukuan into an animated narrative that presents its important characters, events, cultural elements, and connection to mount Arayat in a visually engaging format. Through animation, the project aims to retain the cultural essence of the popular folklore while using visual storytelling to make the narrative more understandable and appealing to younger audiences. Rather than simply retelling the legend, the project seeks to demonstrate how animation can serve as a medium for documenting, presenting,
and revitalizing local folklore. By combining traditional Kapampangan storytelling with animation techniques, the project hopes to contribute to the digital preservation of the region’s cultural heritage, as well as encourage greater awareness and appreciation of Kapampangan
mythology. Ultimately, the project aims to create an accessible visual representation of Maria Sinukuan's legend that can help keep the story relevant for future generations.
